Visuospatial neglect: disorder of attention, caused by damage to the right hemisphere"s attention. Patients will not only not recognize things on the left side, but also not know their own body. Dress half of their body, write on half of the page, shave half of their face. Can"t see the left side, but at some level patients are able to process it. Have visual judgements that are able to help patients make decisions. Most patients are aware that they have this disability. If unaware about the problem, patients are unwilling to try to fix the problem. Also affects visual memories, only able to describe things on the right side. Post-stroke patients may improve and could have completely recovered. Bailint"s syndrome: damage to both parietal lobes, complete obliteration of attention. Only able to see one object at a time, may be right beside each other and still only see one object. Require extensive support, patients often get worse with time.
