Transfiguration story: is in all three of the gospels, matthew takes over it from mark and there are a few little changes from it. Recurring theme, mountains, sermon on the mound, place where you encounter the divine. Moses is the law giver, elijah is the prophet. What happened to john the baptist forshadows what will happen to jesus. Vr 22 and 23 contain the second of the formal predictions of the passion by saying he is the son of man which distresses the diciples.
