Lecture 2 - september 26 - cities of south america. Total population: 374 million: 81. 6 percent urban. Most urbanized countries (venezuela, uruguay and argentina) Least urbanized countries (paraguay, ecuador, bolivia) slide4 chart. South america has the highest growth percentage of urban population. It is growing relatively quickly, there is a slowdown but it still better then the other continents. Every country in south american is at least 50% urbanized. Eventhough there are some countries that are least urbanized, their percentage is still high slide 6. There is a lot of parents in polarization in south america. Cities in particular in south american countries are in debt crisis. Three distinc spheres with a great deal of internal variation: Andean cities (cities in north west, tmany hese were important, they are centred aruond mountains, they tend to be orthodox spanish, this were pretty established cities during the colonial times.
