FSC239Y5 Lecture Notes - Petrochemical, Flammability Limit
Document Summary
It s the rapid oxidization process of a fuel accompanied by the evolution of varying intensities of heat and light. It is produced by fuel, oxygen and ignition. An accelerant is any fuel that started spreads or increases the intensity of a fire. Yes, too much fuel is too rich (ufl- upper flammable limit) or too little fuel is lean (lfl- lower flammable limit), in either case fire will not ignite. The range between these fuel concentration links is known as flammable or explosive range. Anything below 1. 4 gasoline will not ignite, anything below 1. 4 to 7. 6 range will ignite. No cigarettes are not able to ignite most ignitable liquids and gasses. Because temperature is high enough but amount of heat energy is not.
