Our discussion thus far has examined objects in arbitrary spaces without taking on much structure. For example, when we talked about a set x from some universe, the structure of the universe, for the most part, and hence, the structure of x was quite abstract in the sense that no structure was assumed. Hence, we devote some time understanding its structure as well as the contents within. The remainder of this chapter is as follows. In section 2 the concept of an euclidean space is introduced. More importantly, we will introduce the concept of a metric specify the standard euclidean metric used. In section 3, properties of objects, namely, sets, from the euclidean spaces are examined in detail.
