Episodic memory: memory for a specific autobiographical event. Info we rmbr : event memory, term coined by uoft researcher endel tulving. Semantic memory: memories for facts of general knowledge about the world: contrasts to episodic memory because not spatially or temporally tagged. Autobiographical memory is different than episodic memory. Episodic memory involves one"s memory for specific autobiographical events: conversely, according to wheeler et al. (1997): & semantic memories: holland & kensinger (2010): autobiographical memory is built on our recollection of specific personal events, autobiographical memory is believed to contain memories of events that occurred during the course of one"s lifetime personally experienced events. Conversely episodic memory is thought to allow us to rmbr experiences that occurred during our life. Rmbr what one eat, wore; day of week, date. Both episodic & semantic memory: can be communicated flexibly: don"t have to report in sequence. Are generally accessible to conscious recall: so can rmbr right away.
