Social psychology- the scientific study of how individuals think, feel, and behave in a social context: applies the scientific method of systematic observations, description, and measurement to the study of the human condition. Social psychology focuses on the individual in a social sense. Social psychological pursuits are so because the thoughts, feelings, or behaviours either concern other people or are influenced by other people. Even implied or imagined presence of others can impact individuals: ex. Imagining negative reactions from others can cause a reaction. Learning social psych is learning about ourselves and the social world provides insights impossible to gain through intuition or experience alone. Sometimes our perception of something can be influenced more by the reactions of others than by the thing itself: social context, even when subtle, can have very powerful effects (ronald reagan.
