May find themselves baring higher expectations from their parents or they may be expected to repress their abilities to not outperform their sibling with an exceptionality. It taught them new strategies that they are able to bring home to interact with their siblings. During the group, they were able to take on the role of a child with an exceptionality to gain perspective. Family involvement in treatment and education: family-centred model at one time, professionals were viewed as the ones that had all the information and would teach the family. Acts towards the families needs rather then the professionals needs: value individual families, culture, and their uniqueness, allow options with communicating with family members. Use a variety of contacts such as phone, face-to-face or home visits: communicate with both households when there is joint custody agreement. Do not assume that the information is being transferred between them: plan alternate conference times in addition to school hour conferences.
