One answer: a sufficient reason for x is one that ensures or entails x. If something is distinct from its existence, then it does not exist by its nature (by what it is). If something does not exist by its nature, then it can only exist because something else causes it to exist. It proves the existence of an uncaused cause of the world. Since the world contains all existing thins that do not exist by their nature, the uncaused cause caused the world ex nihilo.
