PSYB30H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Psychosis, Executive Functions, Rorschach Test
Document Summary
The process of evaluating individual differences through tests, interviews, and observations. Involves systematic, standardized procedures (so that we can figure out if someone is above or below average for a trait) for observing, measuring, and recording behaviours and personality features. Measured using chronbach"s alpha: >0. 7, at least a score of 0. 8 to be reliable. A lot of the time, asking many questions, but testing the same thing. Reliability means the test will give the same results no matter how many times tested and no matter how many different ways tested. Construct test is aligned with construct it is designed to measure. Personality can"t be measured directly, we have to infer. Face does the test have questions that look like what you are trying to measure i. e. a test of depression should ask questions of mood, appetite, etc. Validity concerns making sure the test measures what it reports to measure.
