Civil law: types of law that deal with non-criminal matters such as contract laws, tort, property. Disputes can arise between individuals, between individuals and corporations. Private law the law governing conflict between persons. Public law: the law between individuals and government. Criminal law: law that concerns conduct which interferers with security of a society. Civil law- roman law civil law also means a system of law based on the roman tradition. Western europe adopted the roman system of law, which eventually came be known as the civil code system. Common law: a system of judge made law. Common law can mean system of law based on judicial decisions. Difference views of the law: natural law approach: people obey the law because of custom, fear of violence if we don"t conform. Morality and the law should be the same.
