Social psychology is what those who call themselves social psychologists choose to study . What they think is important to study is the preoccupations of upper middle class people. Comparing social psychology to sociology and anthropology. How social psychology relates to psychology- traditional/ view. Psychology focuses on the individual (interfacing with others), sociology- how many moving in and out (anonymous big numbers- microanalysis), anthropologists- state they study a whole culture but only survey one person (wrong) Psychology is in the faculty of science. Part of psychology incorporates perception motivation learning ect, as a social concept. Addressing fundamental human concerns- justice, hatred abuse ect. Scientists live in an ivory tower- live isolated state of mind- removed from reality, experiments= irrelevant. Defense- theory is important, dreaming up the idea is important, every interaction is guided by theory but it is not discussed. Assuming everyone is good with the few bad, or not trusting anyone and assuming everyone is bad.
