Document Summary

Surface surveys: historical document surveys: allows archaeologist to use documents to answer their research. Intensive excavation: what level of data do we need for our goals goals. Pedestrian surveys: literally just walk around and record what you see. Surface testing: when you look for shifts in terraces. Flowing water is used to describe one of the natural environmental factors that disturbs archaeological sites. Used in its natural state unlike an artifact: if you find a stone and use it how you found it, it is an ecofact. If you chip away at it, it becomes an artifact: know a transect drawing!
