Are signi ers of identities like gender, class, status etc. We often use or manipulate commodities to cultivate our identities: women and purses. It becomes easy to overlook how our consumption habits affect others around the world, or how our habits have global effects. Moreover, it is often dif cult for us to change our consumption habits. Most of the foods we consumer the by product of cross cultural trade and contact.
