Genes sequences can accumulate random mutation, sequences more similarity share a recent ancestor. Major characteristics of endosymbiotic organelles: double membrane, autonomous replication, genome, functional genes. Archezoa hypothesis: early evolving lineages might leave descendants which lack key, some eukaryotes may not have all organelles they have today at some points of their life.
