ARCH 472 Lecture Notes - Lecture 17: Interior Architecture, Graph Paper, Adaptive Reuse
Document Summary
Christen was first introduced to architecture/construction in her early years. Her dad was a carpenter and at the age of 7 she would follow her dad to sites and experience different materials. She remembers getting graph paper and re-arranging her own room and following through with it. She enjoyed these things naturally not thinking of it as (cid:862)ar(cid:272)hite(cid:272)ture(cid:863). In high school, she took cad class, but it was mainly mechanical drawings, not much designing. Then she atte(cid:374)ded u(cid:374)i(cid:448)ersity of orego(cid:374) for t(cid:449)o years, (cid:272)o(cid:373)pleti(cid:374)g ge"s a(cid:374)d taki(cid:374)g art (cid:272)lass to (cid:271)uild up a portfolio to e(cid:374)ter the ar(cid:272)hite(cid:272)ture progra(cid:373) si(cid:374)(cid:272)e she had(cid:374)"t take(cid:374) a(cid:374)y art (cid:272)lasses (cid:271)efore (cid:272)ollege. Christen worked hard to catch up, taking summer studios while also working part-time. She was accepted into the interior architecture program which focuses more towards interior space, material, color, and feel of existing spaces.
