Proli c composer, in 1815 alone: 20,000 bars of music, 9 church works, symphony, 140 lieder (songs), including erlk nig. Lied: german song (19th century) premiered 1820, 5 years later. Modi ed strophic form, with 8 strophes, i. e. verses. (alternative song form is through-composed) One singer enacts 4 characters: there"s already a poem, with 8 verses. Regular strophic form is making 1 melody for a verse and repeat it 7 times. Modi ed is where he modi es the melody each time. Erlking (death) - all ranges, major key, pianissimo. There"s also a horse (heard in piano accompaniment). Father"s taking son on horse to doctor cause son has fever.
