A strong situation is something heavily guided and set by society. Technology is a strong situation, it has a very strong hold on us: the class is about engagement and active learning. You need to be able to connect what is happening in the textbook to what we are discussing in the lectures. Ask questions if there is something that is difficult to understand: repetition helps with learning.
