FRHD 3150 Lecture Notes - Sarcasm, Learning Disability, Reinforcement
Document Summary
Philosophy--> belief system of how these children should be taught. Need to develop an understanding of the difference between positive and negative reinforcement. Won"t change a child"s behaviour by punishing them. Negative reinforcement only stops behaviour: changing behaviour doesn"t occur as quickly as we would like, think about the way kids learn language. Reinforcement for a baby saying mama the first time. Less wrong if teacher tells them to raise their hand and wait to be called on and child raises hand and shouts out answer: performance inconsistency--> have bad days and good days. Studying for a test really hard and then getting the test and not remembering anything. Learning disabled children go through this very often. Important for the child"s ego to celebrate good days and not stress over bad days: behavioural questionable practices. Corporal punishment--> any physical contact with the child. Teacher could be in full control but don"t know what the child is going to do.
