Social change: social change of some kind is inevitable, however, its direction is often the culmination of messy and many-sided social conflicts in which dedicated individual efforts are necessary but not sufficient elements. Science and technology: let"s begin with examples of social change in science and technology, discoveries come from individual efforts, but these efforts are organized into social groups, and shaped by institutions. Resistance to change: changing how we think often threatens the status quo, sociology, for example, offers a number of radical theses concerning the social construction of reality. The digital divide: economic interests, the majority of scientists agree that the roots of global warming can be linked to human activity such as deforestation and the burning of coal, gas, and oil, political interests. Social change and social movements: let"s talk a(cid:271)out so(cid:272)ial (cid:272)hange more broadly as intentionally organized in social movements.
