Romance may be love plot, but genre of the romance does not equal to love story. It has adventure > essential element of plot in romance. The complete form of the romance is clearly the successful quest > it"s a search for something. The genre of the romance is itself a kind of quest for the marvellous > desire to find something fantastical and imaginative. The romance is a translation of the story into the vernacular. Romance"s almost always are nostalgic: a search for some kind of imaginative golden age in time or space. Romance also has a division of the world into familiar and foreign (leaving the familiar land and going into the foreign, doing the quest and then coming back home into the familiar) Frye: dialectical conflict between good and evil >winter, darkness, confusion and sterility are the enemies;
