News is constructed and communicated differently on different platforms, because each platform has its own limitations and strengths. News hole limited amount of space for actual reportage between all the ads. Ads are the priority because they are what keeps the newspaper in business. Nightly newscasts have 18 minutes worth of news every half hour, the rest is advertisements. Each different news format has a different social environment. Legacy news brands have an important part in culture. When we hear of bad news happening, we instantly migrate to our tv sets/mobile phones/online to see what"s going on. News rituals how do we consume news throughout the day. Many of us consume the news as soon as we wake up (by reaching for our phones or logging in to facebook) in order to situate ourselves with what is going on. We each have our own personal newsworthiness index.
