Document Summary
Describe the various transformations that may occur in a woman"s life. Women"s life goes through more transformations than men"s. Women"s status and roles change throughout their lives. They progress from daughter, to wife, to daughter-in-law, to mother, to mother-in-law, and finally to grandmother. As young girls, they enjoy the most freedom, and affection from parents or elders. As a wife and daughter-in-law, their status of freedom changes to being at the most constrained. They become the newest member in the family until children come along. They may have to deal with being unwanted and if they become widowed at a young age, they may have no children to care for them. In contrast, a man"s life is spent rooted in his birth location, expected to be economically productive, and the central authority figure. Overwhelmingly, at any age, they"re free to move about as they like; they can go anywhere to hang out and travel.
