Document Summary

Changes in communication technology produce changes in the cultural, the social, and the psychological order. Made the study of popular culture creditable. Argued why comic books are not as intellectual as shakespeare novels. Did not approve of recalling a period of time with the great theories (ie. rome, the era of caesar) Became interested in what the printing press did to society. Truth is the consequence of following things. Truth--- follow sequence to find out the result (ie. the car won"t start ) Print presents us with truth in a linear fashion. Decided to write this book in non-linear, wanted the form of the text to be in an argument form. We shape our tools and afterwards our tools shape us. Mcluhan believed that as a new medium comes into prominence, one of its primary effects is to extend some feature of our physical/psychical being in space and time.
