Everything we do that leads to a positive pleasure experience is satisfying two fundamental instincts: sexuality and aggression one or both of these fundamental instincts. Only structure that exists at the moment of birth the entire mind or psyche is id at the moment of birth translates need into drive. Drive is felt or experienced desire for something. Pleasure principle: tries to satisfy the sexual and aggressive instincts: if it feels good do it and do it right now. Knows only images: in releasing libido the id is extremely handicapped and has very few skills, no direct contact with the outside world except for memory images that have been stored of objects from the outside world.
