It"s always an abnormal event, normally associated with damage that occurs rapidly such as: mechanical damage of neurons (tumors, event that cause disruption to ion channel (anoxia, results of infection (meningitis) Any disruption to homeostatic that cannot be compensated by the neuron results in necrotic cell death.
