Middle east, europe, africa may have been quite densely populated: molder climate. Marked change in ecology/plants: decline/extinction of large mammals, environmental uncertainty led to new adaptive behaviours. Temperatures lowered 3 degrees on equator and 16 degrees in the north: not arctic conditions. Expansion of grasslands: sea levels lowered. England connected to continent, siberia to north america and indonesia to se asia.
