For those who graduate from high school, get a full-time job, and marry before they have their first child, the probability that they will be poor is 2%. At this point, we have no way of proving that all three of the variables lead to an individual being more poor or less poor. Thus, for us to be able to make this causal claim, we would have to run a correlation test and examine the data on a scatter plot to determine whether the data indeed would form a causal relationship. This correlation test would help determine whether or not the dependent variable (percent of poorness) is, in fact, in a causal relation with all three of the independent variables (hs diploma, full-time job and marriage. ) Getting married means that you will have two possible incomes to support the child, thus you have a lesser chance of being poor.
