This can be explained in part by the breadth of focus. William d. pattison (1964) argued that four distinct traditions can be identified. Pattison"s traditions represent one model of the discipline. Each of these themes can be traced to greek scholars. Resets on the assumption that spatial order exists. Spatial order, hierarchy and patterns: alberta example. Grande prairie, fort mac, red deer, lethbridge, medicine hat in another class: high traffic corner. Concerned with describing and understanding the forces responsible for: spatial (areal) forms, flows of various phenomena between points (places) and areas (regions)
