New deal coalition cont. (new deal democratic coalition) The new deal has a long term impacts in certain areas: immigrants got jobs, impact most of our lives- Kermit love, born in 1916 designed costumes for theatre. The guy who played big bird, love helped create that sesame street character. Your basic federal crop reduction programs (i think?). Something like the subtresury program becomes part of the agricultural program of new deal. Midwestern progressive republicans also come aboard on the new deal: labor. The feeling that the president was aware of the problems of the average american worker is one big part of the appeal of the new deal (their bosses are sob). But not just sympathetic- there were things to even it out. At long last, you had the right of collective bargaining recognized by the federal government. 1936- walsh heavly act- 40hr work week, no child labor, and minimum wage.
