Imagine a world in which ads were not there: It is not natural; it is a decision. Therefore we must have understanding of advertising to understand this. To understand the hyper-commercial world we have to make sure that we ask the right questions about the power of advertising. This question would be important to the company such as budweiser or mercedes, but not important to social scientists and our perspective. So the right question = our culture perspective. Culture= power to tell stories; good vs bad. Not by just 1 ad, but advertising as a whole, they reflect a bigger picture. Every ad is the propaganda of commodities (or through the market place) All needs are satisfied through objects: can only think of life through objects. The system tells us you are what you buy. The fundamental aspect of how a society is organized is economic.
