Levels of analysis and how they shape the sensory systems and behaviour: Development refers to the changes and continuities that occur within the individual between conception and death; how you change and stay the same over time. Maturation biologically timed unfolding of changes within the individual according to that individual"s genetic plan; specific environment conditions shape the genetically determined plan; ie grow tooth at 5 months. Learning the acquisition of neuronal representations of new information; relatively permanent changes in our thoughts, behaviours, and feelings as a result of our experiences. Learning processes allow you to acquire new information and respond to events ie don"t touch the hot stove, look before crossing the street etc. Some of these become automatic but this can cause trouble in new environments, ie in europe you have to look right then left instead of left than right to cross the street like in north america.
