Document Summary

During this period, two specific changes stand out: First, was the transformation in the economic structure of society taking place during the transition from feudal to industrial society. This transition is called the great transformation. Second, were the changes taking place in the political structure of society. This occurred as a result of the french revolution in 1789. As a result of the great transformation" several things happened. First, by 1830 the new industrial economies had replaced the old feudal economics of the preceding period. Second, the mechanical discoveries necessary for industrial production made. For the first time, populations began to be centered in cities. This led to rapid developments in commerce, science and industry. As these changes began to take effect, the old feudal economies began to dissolve. As a result, people were forcibly separated from agricultural land and could no longer produce their livelihoods in agriculture or satisfy their material needs of food, shelter and clothing.
