How cjs interacts with other systems like social services, etc. Different values, different objectives, the privacy of the offender: let"s protect kids, rather than criminals privacy. Different rules for how cjs interacts with different areas. Criminal justice can be approached from a variety of perspectives criminal law: relies on black letter law what is the formal rule not the complete picture. Key focus for us is crime and justice as political issues. What is politics": who gets what powers how we treat offenders, institutions, institutional interactions, authoritative allocation of values who decides what values are, who enforces them, who assigns the values. Perception of the national crime rates within the last five years: 60% believe crime rate has gone up, 30% believe crime rates has stayed the same, 12% believe crime rates has gone down.
