Document Summary
Alzheimer"s might be as a result of genetics, but don"t know how genetic errors caused it. Genetic influence on behavior: identical twins are genetically identical, they have the same traits, probably have the same disorders. From chapter 3: we would expect a 1 year old child to recover from traumatic brain damage more quickly than an adult. Why: young children have strong immune system, young children have more synapses, young have smaller brains, adults engage in riskier behavior, adults are less lateralized. Nature (something we"re born with) vs. nurture (something we learn). Both of them interact to make human being-both very important. Strand-like molecules of dna linked on chromosomes. Karyotype: genetic blueprint: humans: 23 pairs: 22 autosomes + sex chromosomes: Reaction time: so why not just nature, environmental can influence protein synthesis as well, genes determine range of possibilities, but not degree of expression.
