Document Summary

Lecture 3 women"s studies brulee: wednesday september 25th, 2013. People of all class and statuses had started to come to university starting in the 60"s. Society in whole was being called in question with regard to its militaristic and racist ideals: these movements challenged the way in which singular movements were talked about in the labour movement. Identity politics begin to emerge during this time period. The women"s movement called into question patriarchal society. The movement was about consciousness raising and the ways in which they were discriminated against: at this point in time there was not a language or outlet to discuss these matters. Women also began to question the cannons of education that they were taught during their university tenure: sociology was based on a very masculine way of thinking. Personality traits were attributed to ones biology: based around men"s experiences and men"s lives.
