Nui natural user interface: ie. Is a discipline concerned with: design, evaluation and implementation of interactive systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them. 2 core dimensions of hci: technological, hardware and software advances, better display monitors, improved input devices, cognitive, knowledge representation, reasoning strategies, decision making. The importance of hci problems with just using things . Newton-> palm pilots-> pocket pcs-> smart phones-> iphones/pods/android-> tablets. People who use information system = users . Focus is on users" goals and tasks. By interaction we mean any communication between a user and computer, be it direct or indirect: direct: inputting info into a keyboard. Involves a dialog with feedback and control throughout the performance of the task. Interaction design: designing interactive products to support people in their everyday and working lives. Interaction design: the design of spaces for human communication and interaction.
