Document Summary

Geology- distinct regional patterns, like their rocks. Physiography (landforms)- a study of landfroms, their underlying geology, and the processes that shape these landforms. Climate- major influence that"s why it is in the order that it is. Vegetation- is a bigger influence on the kind of soil than the other way around. The earth"s surface features a variety of landforms: mountains, plateaus and lowlands. They stay there then in time, they harden. Physiographic regions are based on surface features which, in turn, largely reflect geology and reflects what lies underneath. Three key characteristics include: it extends over a large, contiguous area with similar relief features, its landform has been shaped by a common set of geomorphic processes, it possesses a common geological structure and history. 2) the interior plains including the western plains and prairies, the great lakes lowlands and the st. lawrence lowlands: due to material being deposited after many years (sedimentary rocks), fossil fuels come about.
