Does not enable involuntary assessment or treatment of medical conditions. It must clearly document how each and all of the six criteria for involuntary assessment are met. This involved providing clinical evidence, not merely concurring that the criteria are met. The treating doctor cannot fill out both the request and recommendation forms. Often need to be invoked for any other involuntary treatment that a patient needs acutely for their safety or the safety of others within a general ward or emergency department setting. If a substitute decision maker is available, consent should be sought from them. These provisions may be appropriate for a patient lacking capacity whose problems are not primarily related to mental illness of where treatment is not authorized under the mental health act. May 8mg/24 hours by any route including regular doses. Max 30mg/24 hours by any route including regular doses. Max 8mg/24hrs by any route including regular doses.
