Document Summary

Sample generalizability when the conclusion based on a sample, or subset, of a larger population holds true for that population eg voting, works for canadian population, or dalton dinner example, for most ontarions. Population: the theoretically specified group of elements to which a researcher would like to generalize census: they say that they have studied everyone but obviously they missed people such as homeless, people in jail. Elements: the members of the population who"s characteristic are to be measured e. g. each person is an element in the sample. Sampling frame: a list of all elements from which a probability sample is selected. Estimates of sampling error sampling error: any difference between the characteristics of a sample and the characteristics of the population from which it is drawn; confidence interval-->what percentage points, 95% redo it again, we will find it between. 43-45%, 95% going to fall within the interval with a few percentage points, plus or minus.
