sex refers to the biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women. gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviours, activities, and attributes that a given society considers appropriate for men and women. Labour force: the actual number of people available for work. The labor force of a country includes both, the employed and the unemployed. Equality: it is defined as treating everyone the same, regardless of their differences. Whether the difference is a person"s age, race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin or physical disability, he is entitled to be held in the same esteem as any of his coworkers. Equity: requires employers to engage in proactive employment practices to increase the representation of four designated groups: women, people with disabilities, aboriginal peoples, and visible minorities. Flexible labour markets/flexibility: refers to the speed with which labour markets adapt to fluctuations and changes in society, the economy or production.
