The french and english repeatedly send regiments back to the region to try and secure the area and various battles ensued. Initially the french army"s style of ambush and guerilla warfare was successful with several battles going in their favour. In 1757 the french concentrated on new york as the major battlefield. Montcalm won several more victories putting the french in control of the lake route in canada.
