Document Summary

Learning: process by which experience produces a relatively enduring change in an organisms behaviour / capabilities. Learning is a process of person adaptation to changing circumstances in our lives. Habituation: decrease in strength of response to repeated stimulus: so won"t be overwhelmed & exhausted by every stimulus, cns and not sensory neurons. Sensitization: increase in strength of response to repeated stimulus. Association of neural stimulus with one that consistently give a response. Acquisition -> time which response is being learned. Ucs -> ucr (no learning is required, by nature) (food -> salivate) Cs -> cr (after learning trials, pairing of cs and usc) (bell -> salivate) More intense the ucs the quicker the learning. Best of cs is before usc (forward short-delay pairing) Discrimination: cr only occurs to one cs but not others. High-order conditioning: cs as ucs in another conditioning. Aversion therapy: behaviour maintained b/c of reinforcement. Spontaneous recover: cr is weaker after rest-period without relearning.
