Motivation- the forces within a person that affect his/her direction, intensity, and persistence of voluntary behaviour: car analogy direction=steering wheel, intensity=how much you put down on the pedal, persistence=how long you drive towards your destination. Ability- the natural aptitudes and learned capabilities required to successfully complete a task: competencies characteristics of a person that result in superior performance. Role perception- the extent to which people understand the job duties (roles) assigned to or expected of them. Determines direction of effort and coordination with co-workers: understand the priority of their tasks, preferred behaviours or procedures. Situational factors: consumer preferences, economic condition, beyond the employee"s and organization"s control, clarity and consistency of cues provided by the environment to employees regarding their role obligations and opportunities.
