Thought to be symbolic of a secular wedding. There is a convex mirror between the figures showing two other figures in the room. Around the mirror, the stations of the cross. Statue of st. margaret, patron st. of childbirth. Doesn"t follow notion of a single vanishing point. Giovanni di nicolo, whose wife died in childbirth. Posthumous portrait to her memory, woman in the portrait is indeed pregnant. Perhaps a funeral portrait because there is one extinguished candle and one lit. Stations of the cross: all the images of x after death are on bride"s side.
