Industrial workers of the world organized immigrant workers, everybody, skilled, unskilled etc. Symbolized as a fist, since it represented not just one finger, it symbolized everyone to organize a strike, with the hope the strike will bring down the system. Extremely radical, wanted to create a revolution and reached out to the most oppressed workers known as the revolutionary syndicalism. Outreach: have to go out and recruit the people, if you are involved, you are considered an activist. Wobblies were workers themselves and were able to communicate to the workers. There were leaders which included women such as elizabeth gurley flynn, big bill hayward (very good speaker) Iww understood that they had lofty ambitions; they needed to start with simple ideas in order to get the people involved. Focused on the fundamentals, for example stating that the employer will not even pay the minimum.
