Concubinage wasn"t an effect of colonial power, but it was necessary to establish, reinforce, and reproduce power relations. Concubinage changed from positive to negative when it began to blur the lines between white and colonized races. Eugenics often boils down to the right people aren"t reproducing enough and the wrong people are reproducing too much. Hottentot venus sarah baartman who was treated as a freakshow and a less evolved human being because of her pronounced buttocks she was an african woman in a colonized french country. Heterosexism = assuming everyone is heterosexual and that all other sexualities are inferior and abnormal. This isn"t just a personal bias or opinion but a systemic and institutional belief and practice. Hegemony is the way in which the cultural values of the ruling class are taken up as universal which justifies the domination by and ideology of the ruling class.
