It also produces behavioral changes that produce movement away from the changing seasons. i. e. circadian, circannual clock. The mechanism for generating annual rhythms is not known but there have been theories. For instance monarch butterfly produces anticipation of the need to migrate. Whereas arctic hare, adapt to seasonal changes by increasing body fat and changing fur colours for better camouflage.
