ANAT 101 Lecture Notes - Flexor Pollicis Longus Muscle, Pronator Teres Muscle, Extensor Carpi Ulnaris Muscle
Document Summary
Muscles of the upper limb: shoulder girdle, arm - anterior and posterior, forearm - anterior and posterior, hand. Shoulder girdle muscles: can be classified into groups, attaching axial skeleton to scapula and clavicle (girdle, attaching axial skeleton to humerus, attaching girdle to humerus, muscles attaching axial skeleton to scapula. Act by moving scapula up, down, in, and out serratus anterior: runs back from rib cage and inserts deep in the medial border of the scapula trapezius: large triangular muscle, originates from cervical and thoracic vertebrae. Extensor and adductor pectoralis major: on the front, originates on clavicle and sternum (and costal cartilages) Inserts in front of latissimus dorsi by the bicipital groove. Adducts, flexes, and medially rotates: muscles attaching girdle to humerus deltoid: makes roundness of shoulder. Originates from clavicle, acromion, and spine of scapula. Abductor terres major: between deltoid and latissimus dorsi. Arm muscles: originate mostly on humerus, insert on radius and ulna, anterior group.
