Document Summary

The heart rates of three daphnia magna were recorded during three fifteen second intervals. The average of the three heart rates established a baseline heart rate for the normal daphnia, before adding neurotransmitters. Figure 1 shows the difference in heart rate before and after adding acetylcholine. The average heart rate of the daphnia before adding acetylcholine was about 130bpm. The heart rate of the daphnia after adding the acetylcholine was a little over 100bpm. Effects of acetylcholine (ach) on daphnia magna heartbeat (bpm). The heartbeat of three daphnia magna were measured three times for 15 seconds to establish an average normal rate. They were then incubated in acetylcholine for three minutes. The heart rate was measured again three times after addition of the acetylcholine. The average heart rate before and after adding the acetylcholine was taken by seven groups and the averages of the data are represented above.
